The Georgia State Patrol is seeking the driver of a pick-up truck that a witness claims struck and injured a Carrollton motorcyclist and then fled the scene.

GSP Public Information Officer Gordy Wright said the motorcyclist, 46-year-old John Floyd Ivan Pulliam, was traveling south on Georgia Highway 1 when a blue Chevrolet truck made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. The accident occurred on Saturday, shortly before 2 p.m.

Wright said the motorcycle struck the right front of the truck, causing the cycle to spin, ejecting the driver.

According to a witness to the crash, the truck stopped momentarily and then left the scene of the accident.

Pulliam was flown to Atlanta Medical Center with injuries, and his wife, Carrie Liner, said his leg was going to be amputated. Pulliam, ejected from his 2005 Suzuki in the crash, suffered a severely broken leg.

Liner had to make the decision Tuesday for doctors to amputate her husband’s leg.

“My husband is a strong person,” Liner said. “And there are still good people out there. A good Samaritan put a belt around my husband’s leg and saved his life.”

Liner says her husband is a roofer and the family does not have insurance. She says her church is expected to organize a meat sale to help raise money for the family’s medical needs.
