Air quality seminar

The University of West Georgia will host a three hour seminar on Monday, June 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. on the topic Indoor Air Quality and Your Health. The public and realtors are welcome to attend as this seminar is approved for real estate continuing education. Book Club

The Tallapoosa lunch bunch book club will meet July 6 at 1 p.m. in the Tallapoosa Library reading room to discuss the book “Crashing Through” by Robert Kurson. The group meets the first Tuesday of each month in the library. New members are welcome. For info call Karen at 770-574-3124.

150th Celebration

Do to great response we are extending the deadline for the Sesquicentennial parade application to July 1, 2010. If you have not mailed in your application you may still do so. The mailing address is found on the application. We are also accepting applications for the arts and crafts festival in conjunction to the sesquicentennial celebration. If you want to get an application call Jonathan James at 678-787-2778. The arts and crafts will be held Saturday, Sept. 4.

Giant Yard Sale

Saturday, June 19, 8 a.m. until ? Corner of Hwy 27 and Hilltop Drive, Bremen. Yard sale items along with hot dogs, hamburgers, cold drinks, cakes and pies. Proceeds go to Bethel Baptist building fund. Come and enjoy! For information, call 404-630-2620.

School supplies

The Bremen Food & Clothing Bank will have its annual School Supply Giveaway at the Bremen High School Gym from 9 a.m. to 12 noon (while supplies last) on July 17. Supplies will be given to students in K-12th grades only. The students must be present to receive the supplies - no exceptions. Registration

The Haralson County Recreation Dept. is taking registration for cheerleading, flag football, tackle football, soccer and fall ball through July 23. For information call 770-646-2029.

Cowboy race

An extreme cowboy race will be held July 31 at Possum Snout Arena in Tallapoosa. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and race starts at 10 a.m. $20. There will be adult and junior classes. All proceeds benefit Rachel’s Wish Foundation. For information call 770-574-8104.

Horsin’Around Fun Show

There will be a Horsin’ Around Fun Show each second Saturday of the month until November at Possum Snout Arena, Hwy. 78, Tallapoosa. Registration is at 4 p.m. There will be adult and junior and open classes. All proceeds will benefit Rachel’s Wish Foundation. For information, call 770-574-8104.

Beard Contest

As part of the sesquicentennial celebration we will have the longest beard contest. The contest will take place at the fashion show at 6 p.m. Sept. 3. The categories of awards will be Best Groomed, Longest, Fullest and Most Original beards. We would welcome all that are able to take part. To encourage participants, the beard contest we will also have the Tallapoosa Clink. The Clink is a Jail that will hold all those who do not have a beard. We will have permits for sale at city hall closer to the event.

Boy Scouts

Boy scout troop and Cub scout pack 123 are available for the community to do yard work and other odd jobs for donations to the scouts. These donations will help send boys to summer camp and further promote scouting in the area. There are also adult leaders available to do larger scale jobs such as concrete, electrical, painting and building repair and additions, all for donations to the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of Troop and Pack 123. West Georgia Championship Wrestling

West Georgia Championship Wrestling presents a night of ministry at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 26, The Calloway Pavilion in Buchanan. On The corner of Bus. 27 and Macedonia Church Road, behind the big black bull statue. The Disciples Power Lifting Ministry will be performing feats of strength as well as testimonies from some of the wrestlers plus a Cage Match for the main event w/special referee Colt Derringer. Haralson County Community Band

The Haralson County Community Band is currently preparing for its third annual summer concert. Rehearsals are held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Rehoboth Christian Center on Monday and Thursday nights, and the concert will be on Saturday, July 10, at 7 p.m. (also at RCC). HC Senior Center

The center holds aerobics at 10 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There is also BINGO at 10 a.m. every last Tuesday of the month sponsored by Southern Traditions.

There will be a called meeting at 7 p.m. Thurs. June 24, at the Haralson Co. Board of Education District office, 299 Robertson Ave., Tallapoosa.
